How do you run a succesful blog? Update! Update! Update! New content is what drives readers and fans to your words of wisdom or daily rants and emotions. The same is true of websites. Although they act as more of an informational guidepost, website content should always be kept up to date, and adding new information quickly is imparative. One of the biggest complaints I hear from clients about their web designers, is that they are just not as responsive to their updates as my clients would like, and they are sometimes being charged ridiculous "change fee's" or" maintenance contracts," to even get on their webmaster's list of things to do.
When my buddy Ron,
The Agent, suggested we start our own web business as part of my company, I agreed as long as we can make it simple for us, and our clients to use, navigate and update the sites. Luck was on our side, and we found Chris. A genious at database creation, Chris has made it his job to create simple content management programs for all of our website clients, so they are easily updateable by our clients with a few quick clicks from any Internet connection. Have a new employee? Click, Click, Click and a new bio, picture, and area's of responsibility are immediately updated on the site. Does your company or organization have a lot of events? Click, Click, Click and your event's date/time/place and info is up and running on the site AND it will disappear when the event is over. Unfortunately, I know just enough about building websites to be dangerous. A Scott website in the past is passable and clunky and usually can only be updated by me. Take my client
Shine!, a website I created over a year ago. In my clunky style it looks okay, but with the constant need of updating classes, and calendars, and workshops, etc. as of February, it had well over 220 updated or new pages of content. Enter Chris, and on April 1st, I will invite you to look at the new site. Almost completely updatable by Shine! staff, and I get to enjoy an extra coffee or two at
Caribou
If you are looking for a website that has a great content management interface built in, check out the
Spyder Web Initiative, and we can create one for you. We only work with small to medium size companies, and we try to only charge small to medium size prices. From Catering Services to Kennnel Clubs, Photography to Personal Biography, we can set Chris loose and create a website for you. Get in touch with me here or at the office. You will be amazed at what a little content management software can do for your website, and how fun it is to update.........Scott
